Election Commission Debunks Fake News about Power Outage during Vote Counting
On February 11, 2024, the Election Commission (ECT) issued a clarification after receiving a report from the Nonthaburi ECT office regarding widespread online and television reports about a polling station with suspicious circumstances during vote counting. Initial claims suggested a power outage in a Chonburi polling station, but video evidence showed fans still operating normally. Further investigation revealed the actual location was in Nonthaburi's Sai Noi district, where two dim lights in the tent made visibility challenging. The polling station chair, Nattapong Kedphong, confirmed lights were not out, and voting proceeded normally without any irregularities or complaints.
