Unexpected Angles – Gold and Robbery Threats, Gold and Independent Organizations
After the nationwide parliamentary election, which was filled with democratic spirit and citizens' rights, it was also the season of massive spending, particularly vote-buying. Many parties campaigned heavily, meeting villagers and holding large rallies until their voices were hoarse. Some parties clearly used policy as motivation, candidate prime ministerial visions, or their party speakers' styles as selling points. Others used money as their primary strategy, buying votes extensively.
With the election spending marathon over, let's discuss gold. Gold prices remain extremely volatile but still over 70,000 baht per unit! This high price is a significant temptation for criminals. Previously, gold shops in central Bangkok and Hat Yai, Songkhla were robbed, suggesting a potentially emerging criminal trend. Even though the Hat Yai incident involved youth allegedly influenced by gaming, it indicates gold shops are becoming prime targets for criminals.
Police must implement strict measures, and citizens must avoid displaying gold publicly to prevent attracting potential thieves. Beyond criminal threats, another significant gold-related issue involves independent organization committee members facing gold bribery allegations with clear video evidence – a potentially explosive development that might lead to committee members being removed and challenging the entire selection process.
