EGAT and Department of Alternative Energy Development Unveil New 'No. 5 Energy Efficiency Label'
For over 30 years, the 'No. 5 Energy Efficiency Label' has been a trusted mark for Thai consumers, making energy-efficient appliance selection easier while reducing expenses and promoting resource conservation. As global and national energy contexts evolve, upgrading energy conservation standards has become crucial, especially in pursuing carbon neutrality and net-zero emissions. The Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT) and the Department of Alternative Energy Development and Efficiency (DEDE) have merged their energy labels into a unified 'No. 5 Energy Efficiency Label', creating a national standard that consumers can trust. The new label features a distinctive blue ring and provides comprehensive information including energy efficiency levels, annual electricity costs, carbon dioxide reduction data, and environmental certifications. Starting from 2026, the label will cover over 45 product categories, from household appliances to solar panels and electric vehicle charging technologies.
