Tension Rises as Fern, Fon, Je Tong, and Jesada File Countercharge Against Chonburi Election Commission Director

On February 12, 2024 at 3:00 PM, four individuals and their lawyers from the Human Rights Lawyers Center arrived at Chonburi City Police Station to file a complaint against the Election Commission District 1 Director for filing a false report. During the process, heated arguments were heard inside the investigation room. The group, including lawyer Noraset Na Nong Toom, revealed that police insisted on individual interrogations, which would take considerable time, unlike previous proceedings where immediate case filing was allowed. The complainants argued that standard legal procedures do not necessarily require extensive preliminary questioning. Police eventually acknowledged the complaint, explaining initial confusion about the nature of the report. Lawyer Noraset specifically requested filing charges of false reporting and seeking criminal penalties against the Election Commission director, also requesting preservation of CCTV footage from February 8-12 as potential evidence.
