iLaw Urges Election Commission to Quickly Reveal Voting Unit Results in All Provinces
iLaw is urging election commissions in all provinces to reveal voting unit results as quickly as possible, pointing out that the current national atmosphere is marked by public uncertainty about vote counting and compilation methods. On February 9, 2024, iLaw published a Facebook statement referencing Election Commission regulations from 2023 which originally required district election committees to compile voting results from all polling units. Previously, provinces were required to publish detailed voting documents within 5 days, but recent regulatory changes now only specify releasing documents 'promptly' without a specific timeframe. Given the current climate of public doubt, iLaw argues that provincial election offices should publish these documents 'as soon as possible', ideally within 1-2 days after the election if documents are already compiled.
