Chinese New Year Brings Pig Market Boost: Promoting Roasted Pork to Absorb Excess Production
The pig market is energetic for Chinese New Year, with the National Pig Farmers Association launching a plan to absorb excess production through roasted pork, targeting 50,000 pigs monthly for six months. Sittiphan Thanakiatpinyo, president of the National Pig Farmers Association, reported that pig prices are stabilizing and improving. The association has requested cooperation from large farms with over 2,000 breeding sows to implement a price stabilization project by processing pigs into roasted meat. Thailand has also successfully negotiated with Malaysia to expand pork export markets, preparing to export the first batch of pork cuts next week. Additionally, the association is collaborating with the Ministry of Commerce to stimulate domestic consumption during the Chinese New Year and Songkran festivals by distributing pork through government market projects.
