DITP Pushes Thai Series and Dramas into Hispanic and Latin American Markets
Sunnantha Kangwankunchit, Director-General of the Department of International Trade Promotion (DITP), revealed that the department has brought 9 Thai companies to participate in the Content Americas 2026 event in Miami, United States. The event is an international content business negotiation platform that brings together producers, distributors, and buyers from streaming platforms, television stations, and leading FAST TV and AVoD service providers worldwide. This year's event features 132 exhibitors and over 2,100 visitors from more than 850 companies in North and Latin America, highlighting the event's role as a central content trading hub for Hispanic markets in the U.S. and LATAM. Thai entrepreneurs secured 108 business meetings, generating trade negotiations valued at 3.75 million USD (approximately 120 million baht). Thai content attracting international interest includes dramas, series, TV shows, BL content, Microdramas, and Short Form Videos, which are increasingly popular in Latin American markets and FAST TV platforms. DITP's goals for 2026 include promoting Thai entrepreneurs at key international events and trade delegations to target countries like Hong Kong Filmart, Marché du Film in Cannes, Mexico, and Brazil, aimed at opening new markets, creating global networks, and sustainably growing the Thai content industry on the world stage.
