Thai Pork Producers Celebrate! Malaysia Approves Imports from 4 Companies, Boosting Exports to 4 Billion Baht

Sittiphan Thanakiatpinyo, President of the National Pig Farmers Association, revealed that Malaysia has officially issued approval for four Thai operators to export chilled and frozen pork and pork cuts. The expected export value to the Malaysian market is approximately 4 billion baht in 2026. This market opening success is the result of Dr. Somchuan Rattanamangkalanan, Director-General of the Department of Livestock Development, leading negotiations and working closely with Malaysian authorities. The Thai companies successfully passed Malaysia's on-site inspection, which took place late last year, reflecting the high standards of Thailand's livestock production in terms of hygiene, food safety, and quality control. Sittiphan added that this market expansion will help absorb excess production, with projected pig production in 2026 expected to reach 24.29 million animals, up from 23.49 million in 2025, which will help stabilize pork prices in Thailand.
