Deputy Bangkok Governor Admits Mistake with Incorrect QR Code for Election Candidate Information
On February 1, 2026, a significant administrative error came to light at the Rachasittharam Technical College polling station. Chollnat Koykul, a parliamentary candidate for the People's Party in Bangkok's District 28, discovered and highlighted an incorrect QR code displaying outdated election candidate information from 2023.
The deputy Bangkok governor, Aranya Ponchai, explained that staff had unintentionally installed a QR code downloaded directly from the Election Commission's link. The original intent was to help voters easily check candidate information before voting. Immediately after being notified about the error, officials removed the incorrect QR code and printed the correct information.
The deputy governor admitted the mistake was due to staff not thoroughly checking the scanned materials before installation, emphasizing it was an unintentional error. The Election Commission threatened legal action if the misinformation was not addressed promptly.
Staff quickly replaced the incorrect QR code with accurate election candidate information to prevent any potential confusion among voters.
