Road Mysteriously Appears in 'Mae Yom Forest' - Chief Wildlife Conservation Area Ordered Removed, Investigation Committee Formed
A new road has emerged in the Mae Yom Wildlife Conservation Area, prompting authorities to order the removal of the local conservation chief and establish an investigation committee. On February 17, Chaicharn Sriyong, Director of Conservation Area Management Region 16 in Mae Sariang, explained the situation regarding an unauthorized new road and illegal logging in the conservation forest, which went viral on social media. Initial investigations revealed the road was approximately 6.60 kilometers long, covering 12 rai of forest land, with significant damage estimated at 2,847,151 baht. The road was allegedly constructed using heavy machinery, cutting through protected forest areas at elevations between 600-1,100 meters. Authorities have collected evidence and will pursue legal action against those responsible, with particular attention to potential involvement of influential parties or business interests.
