Election Commission Thanks Voters and Officials, Confirms Yala Bombing Does Not Impact Election
On February 8, 2024, at 6:10 PM, Narong Klan-Warin, Chairman of the Election Commission (EC), held a press conference after closing polling stations for parliamentary elections and the first national referendum. He highlighted the election's significance for Thai democracy, allowing citizens to shape the country's future through their votes. The election involved over 99,483 polling units and 1.5 million election officials. The EC thanked government agencies, private sector, international observers, and voters, emphasizing that each vote reflects democratic participation. Regarding the Yala bombing, EC Secretary Sawaeng Boonmee confirmed that the incident, which occurred 20 minutes before polling station closure and injured one security officer, did not impact the election process.
