Jullapan Denies Protecting Kalasin MP Candidate, Views Summons as Timing Observation

Jullapan Amornvivat, party leader and prime ministerial candidate for Pheu Thai Party, gave an interview on February 6, 2024, at Ploenchit BTS Station regarding the technology crime police unit's summons for Plakorn Phimmanit, a Kalasin MP candidate, after online gambling website rumors. He stated that if there's substance to the allegations, they won't protect anyone and legal procedures must be followed. He emphasized this is just a summons for explanation and expressed concern about state power usage during the election. Jullapan confirmed that the candidate's background was thoroughly checked by over 10 agencies, and the candidate remains in Thailand. He suggested the timing looks like an attempt to undermine the party and warned against using state mechanisms as political tools.
