Midea Continues Investment of Over 25,000 Million Baht, Highlighting Thailand as Largest Production Base Outside China

Midea, a global smart appliance technology leader from China, is investing over 25,000 million baht in Thailand, establishing it as their largest production base outside China. Naret Terdsidhi, Secretary-General of the Board of Investment (BOI), visited two Midea Group factories: Midea Refrigeration Equipment Company, an air conditioner manufacturer in Pin Thong Industrial Estate, Chonburi, and Midea Intelligent Manufacturing Company, a refrigerator producer in CPGC Industrial Estate, Rayong. The BOI Secretary-General noted that Midea has been investing in Thailand since 2559 (2016), initially through a merger with Toshiba, and has been fully investing under the Midea Group name since 2563 (2020). Currently, they have 8 factories covering air conditioners, refrigerators, washing machines, and kitchen appliances for export to the United States, Middle East, and Asia. The total investment exceeds 25,000 million baht, employing over 15,000 Thai personnel and maintaining a research and development team of 200 people. Midea is recognized as the No.1 Smart Home Appliances Brand globally by Euromonitor International and has received innovative awards from Time Magazine. Midea's Chonburi factory is the first non-Chinese facility to receive the World Economic Forum's Global Lighthouse Network award, highlighting its advanced AI and data analysis capabilities in smart manufacturing.
