Teacher Explains the Reason Behind 18-Year-Old's School Shooting at Patong Presidency Kheewat School
On February 13, 2024, an 18-year-old named Khem used a stolen police weapon to storm Patong Presidency Kheewat School in Hat Yai, Songkhla. He shot and killed school director Sasiphat Sinsamosorn and wounded a 14-year-old female student, taking other students hostage before eventually surrendering to police. The perpetrator was seeking 'Teacher Jee' (Theerawin), claiming issues with his sister. The teacher explained that the sister was frequently absent from school, which led to discussions with her father about academic performance. The shooter, who was reportedly dealing with mental health issues and drug-related problems, became frustrated and launched the violent attack. The teacher emphasized that media reports suggesting he had physically punished the student were entirely false.
