Bangkok Marks Rama 6 Road as Smoke-Free Zone with Clean Air Concept
Bangkok and Ramathibodi Hospital have launched a campaign to make Rama 6 Road a smoke-free zone, with legal penalties of up to 5,000 baht for those who violate the rules. The initiative, held on February 13, 2026, at Ramathibodi Hospital's Faculty of Medicine, involves multiple organizations and aims to create a clean air environment. Lert Laksana, Deputy Permanent Secretary of Bangkok, emphasized that this is a crucial step for the health innovation district, which is densely populated with hospitals and educational institutions. The campaign includes marking the entire street with 'Smoke-Free Road' symbols and inviting businesses to join the surveillance network. The public is encouraged to report smoking violations and help create a sustainable smoke-free society.
