Extreme Dedication: 9 Election Units in Mae Sarieng Travel for 8 Hours to Collect Ballot Boxes
Election committee members from 9 polling units in two districts of Mae Sarieng, Mae Hong Son, had to travel to collect advance ballot boxes due to the remote location, involving car, boat, and walking for over 8 hours. At 2:00 PM on February 6, 2024, at the Mae Sarieng District Office, officials delivered election materials and referendum equipment to the 9 polling units. The election committees from Mae Kong and Sao Hin subdistricts, including 3 units from Sao Hin (Ban Sao Hin, Ban Sala Chiang Tong, Ban Mae Song) and 6 units from Mae Kong, had to travel to collect the materials. The Ban Ko Prae polling unit was the most remote, requiring a 7-8 hour journey involving 4 hours of driving, 1 hour by boat along the Salween River, and 3 hours of walking to reach the village.
