Sattaram Sends Social Security Progressive Team to Compete in New Board Election
On February 12, 2026 - Mr. Sattaram Thammabussadee, a Social Security Committee member for the insured, stated that the current Social Security board, which expires on February 13, will become a caretaker board until a new election is held, likely in May or June. Benefits for insured members, such as wisdom tooth extraction, are expected to be available from May 1st, as the board has already approved them. Sattaram and his team have pushed for several initiatives, including preventing inefficient investments and a new pension calculation formula (CARE). Some campaign promises, like expanding child support to age 12, could not be implemented in this term. Sattaram believes that within two years, this could be a golden era for social security and welfare for Thai people. He also supports transparency, suggesting that the current board is the first to declare asset information, and emphasizes the need for political cooperation in social security reform following the February 8th election. The progressive Social Security team is preparing to field 7 employer representatives and 7 insured party representatives in the upcoming board election.
