Thai Cycling Association Moves Forward with Training Plan for Asian Games Athletes
General Decha Hemkrasri, Vice President of the Asian Cycling Confederation (ACC), President of the ASEAN Cycling Federation (ACF), and President of the Thai Cycling Association, disclosed that the association has begun its training camp preparations for the 20th Asian Games in Japan this September. The committee for athlete preparation has invited the Cycling Association to provide details, with Decha and his team presenting at a meeting on February 4th at the Sports Authority of Thailand building.
He explained that the association will send athletes with medal potential in 13 out of 20 total events, focusing on their performance at the 33rd Southeast Asian Games, where they won 10 gold, 7 silver, and 3 bronze medals. The team will concentrate on track cycling short-distance events like team sprint, keirin, and sprint, with promising athletes like Jay Angsutha, Noraseth Boonma, and Yoenyong Petcharat.
In road cycling, athletes like Sarawut Sirirongchai, Peerapol Chaowchiangkwang, and mixed-nationality cyclist Atithi Poulard are expected to compete. Female athletes like Jutathip Maneephan and Phetdarin Somraj are also potential medal contenders.
For BMX and mountain bike events, athletes like Kometh Sukprasert, Buddhapoom Nakpan, and Chutikan Kitwanichsathien are expected to perform strongly, having previously won medals in regional competitions.
