UK Prime Minister Calls on Sir Jim Ratcliffe to Apologize for Immigrant Remarks
Sir Keir Starmer, UK Prime Minister, is demanding that Sir Jim Ratcliffe, co-owner of Manchester United football club, apologize for offensive immigrant remarks. Previously, Ratcliffe gave an interview stating that immigration is costing the country too much money due to the large number of people receiving welfare benefits. He claimed, "You cannot have a good economy with 9 million people on welfare and numerous immigrants. It's causing excessive spending. The UK is being overwhelmed by immigrants." Starmer responded through X (Twitter), stating, "These are wrong and discriminatory words. The UK is a proud nation that embraces diversity and differences. Jim Ratcliffe should apologize." Notably, Ratcliffe has been living in tax-free Monaco since 2020, and his company Ineos received 120 million pounds in government support last year to protect workers from being laid off.
