Resolved: 1.7 Million Baht Compensation Drama for Crane Accident Victim's Child
On February 6, 2024, the compensation drama surrounding the death of Supinna Sathabut, 28, in a crane accident on a train in Nakhon Ratchasima on January 14, was finally resolved. The 1.7 million baht compensation was initially deposited in the father's account, causing family conflict.
Provincial authorities and a prosecutor mediated a 5-hour negotiation between the grandfather and the grandfather, focusing on two main issues: the child's legal guardianship and the distribution of compensation funds. Ten-year-old Gorn chose to live with his grandfather, who has raised him since childhood.
After a detailed financial review, it was determined that the compensation money would be split equally between the grandfather and the grandfather. The grandfather already received 200,000 baht, with an additional 185,000 baht to be paid to complete the equal distribution. The prosecutor noted that additional compensation from the railway and potential legal damages are still pending.
