Former Ice Hockey Athlete Reveals Discrepancies in Allowance Payments
The controversy surrounding the Thailand Ice Hockey Association continues as anti-corruption officials investigate excessive venue rental charges for SEA Games competitions. Jumpon Karusaktapong, owner of Thailand International Ice Hockey Arena (TIIHA), complained that the association was billing an average of 700,000 baht per month for venue rental, when actual costs should be between 200,000-300,000 baht. The original agreement was for 13,000 baht per training session lasting 1-1.5 hours. Former national team athlete Chonphat Ingratpithakorn revealed further financial irregularities, stating he signed for 28,000 baht in athlete allowances but only received 5,000 baht. He questioned deductions for travel and accommodation expenses, arguing that these should be covered for national team athletes. Patrick Forsner, a SEA Games 2025 ice hockey player, acknowledged payment inconsistencies but emphasized his love for the sport and desire to play for the national team, saying he remains committed despite financial challenges.
