Knockout Punch - Conservatives Still Strong
Bhumjai Thai Party won the February 8, 2569 election in a landslide, sweeping almost 200 parliamentary seats. Party leader Anutin Charnvirakul, expected to become prime minister again, described the victory as beyond a landslide. Compared to the 2023 election, where the blue-colored party secured around 70 seats, they dramatically increased constituency seats by over 100. Party-list votes also surged from 1.6 million to nearly 6 million votes. Before the election, Anutin had predicted 200 seats in his own poll, which most people doubted. After political shifts in late 2568 and strategic planning, Anutin gained support for the premiership, reinvigorating conservative political power. The party's strength comes from extensive government networks and connections with high-level state mechanisms nationwide. The victory suggests that conservative forces remain robust and potentially even more powerful than before.
