33-Year-Old Man Arrested for Photographing Ballot at Polling Station
At 12:30 PM on February 8, 2024, police from Ban Du Police Station, led by Police Colonel Anusorn Nho Khambut, along with Election Commission officials and local administrative officers, arrested a 33-year-old man at Voting Unit 20. The man, identified as Somchat, was caught photographing his ballot inside the voting booth after casting his vote.
When election officials noticed his suspicious behavior, they investigated and questioned him. Somchat admitted to taking photos of the ballot and allowed officials to check his green iPhone, where clear images of the completed ballot were found. He was detained for further investigation.
Officials charged him with 'using equipment to photograph a cast ballot', which is a violation of the Organic Act on Parliamentary Election B.E. 2561, before transferring him to Ban Du Police Station for legal proceedings.
