Car Owner Tracks Down Stolen Pickup Using GPS, Confronts Alleged Thief on Roadside
KORAT — A 61-year-old man in Nakhon Ratchasima attempted to stop a suspected car thief by ramming his vehicle after tracking his stolen Ford pickup truck via GPS, but the suspect managed to escape.
The incident took place in Ban Tha Yiam village, Kut Bot subdistrict, Soeng Sang district, on February 11th. Kuekrit Suetrong discovered his pickup was missing from in front of his home around 5am, initially thinking his son had borrowed it for work before realizing it was stolen.
Using the vehicle's GPS tracker, he located the pickup about seven kilometers away and found it parked on a main road, where a man was allegedly changing the license plates. Kuekrit attempted to ram the suspect's vehicle but was hesitant to directly confront him, unsure if the man was armed.
He recognized the suspect as a former resort customer who had previously presented himself as a friendly acquaintance. Kuekrit successfully recovered his pickup truck, and a motorcycle believed to be connected to the theft was also found at the scene.
He has filed a complaint with Soeng Sang police, who have identified the suspect and are working to apprehend him.
