Agricultural Market Organization Invites Bangkok Residents to Support Coconut Farmers at Jatujak Market
The Agricultural Market Organization (AMA) is collaborating with the Cooperative Promotion Department to sell fragrant coconuts from Damnoen Saduak, Ratchaburi Province, at the Jatujak Market in Bangkok from February 5-8. This initiative aims to help farmers struggling with severely low coconut prices. Panitan Meechaiyoyo, Director of the Agricultural Market Organization, revealed the urgent support measures following instructions from Deputy Prime Minister Thammanat Prommao, Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives. The plan involves purchasing and collecting 1,000,000 coconuts to help alleviate farmers' challenges. Currently, coconut prices have dramatically dropped from an average of 23-28 baht per coconut to just 2 baht per coconut - the lowest in 10 years. The initiative includes promotional offers like buy-one-get-two deals and bottled coconut water at special prices (30 baht per bottle or 4 bottles for 100 baht). Additionally, they will distribute products to regional Agricultural Market Organization branches to help stabilize farm-gate coconut prices.
