Thammanas Pleased with Election Results, Waits for Party Decisions on Government Formation

On February 9, 2024, Rear Admiral Thammanas Phromphao, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Agriculture, arrived at the Ministry of Agriculture with a cheerful expression. He commented on the election results, which are over 95% complete, expressing overall satisfaction. The Kla Dharma Party aimed for 60 seats but secured 57, which he considers on target. He acknowledged some constituencies where they expected to win were narrowly defeated, but was happy about gaining seats in provinces like Mae Hong Son, Roi Et, and especially Suphan Buri, where they won one seat instead of the expected two. The party's success is attributed to their strategy of direct community engagement and presenting agricultural, water, and land use policies. When asked about government formation, Thammanas stated they have not yet discussed any negotiations, having rested after their party's mission. He noted potential government formation might involve the Bhumjaithai, Pheu Thai, and Kla Dharma parties, but emphasized the need to respect the leading parties' role. He remains open to continuing previous government policies if given the opportunity.
