Thanathorn Calls on Citizens to Complete 100-Year Siam Revolution Mission
At 7:15 PM on February 6, 2024, at the Thai-Japan Sports Center, Thanathorn Junsawang, leader of the Progressive Movement and campaign assistant for the People's Party, delivered a speech reflecting on the past 8 years since founding the Future Forward Party. He described the initial political landscape as dark, with citizens' rights restricted and people distrustful of politicians and democracy.
Thanathorn emphasized the importance of political engagement, arguing that politics impacts everything from local road quality to school education, resource management, and national budget allocation. He called for ending the power succession of the 2014 coup leaders and establishing a robust democracy with power belonging to the people.
Looking ahead to the 100th anniversary of the 1932 Siam Revolution, he challenged citizens to complete the mission in their generation. He advocated for a new type of political party built on ideology, merit, and transparency, rather than personal interests or vote-buying.
Reflecting on the past 8 years, Thanathorn claimed success in rekindling political interest, restoring faith in parliament, and creating a new political movement. With just two days until the third election, he expressed confidence that meaningful change is possible.
