Where Did My One Vote Go? Teacher Yao, Udon Thani Parliamentary Candidate, Confronts Election Commission Over Zero Votes
On February 10, 2024, at the Election Commission office in Udon Thani, Yaowalak Kamsri, 68, a retired teacher and parliamentary candidate for the Thai Population Party, confronted election officials about her mysteriously missing vote. She personally marked her ballot for candidate number 10 and party list number 31, but discovered her polling station showed zero votes for her party. Yao insisted she carefully marked her own ballot and even had another retired teacher confirm her vote, making the zero-vote result impossible. She emphasized that even one vote matters, comparing it to missing 100 baht that would prevent buying something. The local Election Commission director called for an immediate investigation into the vote discrepancy.
