Move Forward Party Secretary Prepares to Resign, Taking Responsibility for Election Results
Sarayuth Jailak, secretary of the Move Forward Party (Prachachon), revealed that following the recent election results where the party suffered defeats in multiple areas, he had previously discussed within the party that if election results did not meet expectations, he would take responsibility by resigning. This was his intention from the start, not a sudden decision after the election loss.
"In two months, we will have a general meeting, and I intend to take responsibility for this situation by resigning," Sarayuth said. When asked if the party's defeat was due to voting for Anutin Charnvirakul as Prime Minister and then not joining the government, Sarayuth said this was not the primary factor, but there were many other components.
He emphasized that while they lost, they didn't lose everywhere - winning in Bangkok and most of the metropolitan areas. However, some previous strongholds were lost because the Bhumjaithai Party was stronger. When asked if he was discouraged by resigning, Sarayuth stated he was not disheartened, but acknowledged they were not strong enough. His resignation is about creating opportunities for new approaches to turn weaknesses into strengths.
