Sawaeng Defends Election Volunteers, Claims Minimal Voting Unit Errors

On February 6, 2024, Sawaeng Boonmee, Secretary of the Election Commission, posted on Facebook defending election volunteers. He emphasized that in the election process involving nearly 2 million volunteers supporting 53 million voters, minor errors are inevitable. Out of approximately 100,000 voting units, less than 50 units had errors, despite volunteers working over 15 consecutive hours without breaks. While acknowledging and apologizing for genuine mistakes, he strongly criticized baseless accusations against volunteer workers who dedicate themselves to democratic processes.
