31 Years of NSM: Elevating the National Science Museum to a Global Learning Ecosystem
On February 12th, Suwong Wongsiri, Acting Director of the National Science Museum (NSM), alongside Dr. Kannika Chen, Deputy Director, held a press conference titled '31 Years of NSM: From the Foundation of Royal Benevolence to Future Innovation'. The event highlighted the museum's journey, which began with the vision of Queen Sirikit, who recognized science, technology, and innovation as powerful tools for developing wisdom and creating sustainable livelihoods.
Over 31 years, NSM has expanded from a single building to a comprehensive 180-acre 'learning ecosystem' featuring five museums catering to all age groups: Science Museum, Natural History Museum, Information Technology Museum, King Rama IX Museum, and FUTURIUM Future Innovation Center. In 2025, they expect 4 million visitors and see themselves as a driving mechanism for a knowledge-based society, cultivating 21st-century skills and developing Thai innovators.
The organization is now preparing to reach international standards, implementing bilingual exhibitions and audio guides to create a borderless learning space that welcomes increasing numbers of international visitors.
