AOT Predicts Over 4.11 Million Passengers During Chinese New Year 2024
Airports of Thailand Public Company (AOT) has projected air traffic volumes for the Chinese New Year period, estimating over 4.11 million passengers across 6 airports. AOT President Paveena Jariyathitipong stated that during the festival period from February 13-22, 2024, passengers will include approximately 2.6 million international travelers and 1.51 million domestic passengers, with an estimated 24,847 total flights (14,295 international and 10,552 domestic). Specifically for Chinese routes, passenger numbers are expected to increase by 8.1%, with approximately 679,259 passengers and 4,447 flights. Suvarnabhumi Airport alone is anticipated to handle 444,255 Chinese route passengers, a 24.2% increase. AOT is preparing for the high travel period by focusing on world-class hospitality, providing multilingual support, implementing technology to reduce waiting times, and maintaining strict health screening measures, including enhanced monitoring for Nipah virus prevention.
