Department of Land Transport Sets Up Online Driver's License Renewal System Starting June 2024

The Department of Land Transport is collaborating with the Ministry of Public Health to elevate service standards and prepare an online driver's license renewal system, expected to be fully operational in June 2024. According to the new ministerial regulation, individuals under 55 years old and with licenses not expired for more than one year can submit renewal requests electronically without traveling to transportation offices nationwide. This approach reduces travel burden and truly responds to the digital era, ensuring maximum operational efficiency. The department is consulting medical professionals to establish guidelines for physical capability checks for online renewals, with a focus on vision testing. In the initial phase, data linking will primarily involve hospitals, with ongoing platform development for clinics nationwide. The system aims to accommodate over 2.5 million annual driver's license renewals for cars and motorcycles, providing a standardized, convenient, and secure digital health certification process.
