Wat Bosth Luang Pu Thian Builds Giant Buddha Statue in Pathum Thani City: 'Buddha Maha Chakkraphat'
On February 9, 2026, Phra Rajmaha Chetiyaphiban or 'Chao Khun Tor Sak', assistant abbot of Wat Arun Ratchawararam and acting abbot of Wat Bosth (Luang Pu Thian) in Pathum Thani, announced the temple's project to create the Buddha Maha Chakkraphat statue. The sacred Buddhist image will be placed on a three-story dharma practice building, with a lap width of 28 meters and height of 40.72 meters. This project commemorates King Rama X's 72nd birthday on July 28, 2024. The concrete building will have a first floor capacity for 1,500 people, a second floor for dharma practice, and a third floor for religious ceremonies. The statue's 28-meter lap width symbolically corresponds to 28 Buddhas, with numerological significance for the King. The project will cost 250 million baht and is expected to be completed by 2029, with plans to develop the area as a Buddhist landmark and cultural tourism site in Pathum Thani. Devotees can contribute 15 baht per square inch to support the statue's completion.
