Special Report - Buddhist Prayer and Meditation Ceremony Dedicated to Her Majesty the Queen Mother
On Friday, January 30, 2026, at 4:00 PM, the Buddhist Sangha and the National Buddhism Office will conduct a Buddhist prayer and meditation ceremony to honor the memory of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, the Queen Mother. The ceremony will be led by senior Buddhist monks, including Somchai Worachayo, Suchin Akkachino, and Thongchai Dhammatecho, along with members of the Buddhist Supreme Council and Buddhist followers. Udomphon Ek-iam, Director of the National Buddhism Office, will lead the civilian side, with government officials, private sector representatives, and citizens participating in the ceremony. The event was approved by the Buddhist Supreme Council and received royal permission from His Majesty the King. Regional temples throughout Thailand and Thai temples abroad will conduct similar ceremonies on the last Friday of each month from January 2026 until the royal cremation ceremony.
