Navy Patrols Fishing Vessels at Sea to Prevent Human Trafficking
On February 4, 2024, at Laem Tuad Pier in Surat Thani, local maritime officials conducted a comprehensive inspection of fishing vessels. Deputy Governor Bundan Sathirachawalan and Navy Captain Nattapol Sinpholphol led a coordinated effort to protect maritime workers and prevent human trafficking. The team inspected five fishing vessels, checking employment conditions, work environments, welfare, documentation, safety equipment, and labor practices. A total of 27 workers were examined - 10 Thai, 15 Myanmar, and 2 Laotian nationals. All employers were found to be complying with relevant legal regulations.
