Stinky Situation! Uncle Thewa Hurls Fermented Fish at Election Commission, Demands Resignation

On February 12, 2024, at the Election Commission (EC) office, after Sontiya Sawadee's press conference, Thewa Sritawan, a former tennis coach dressed in white tennis attire and carrying a tennis racket, threw a bag of fermented fish at the office walls. Thewa explained he was frustrated by ongoing election irregularities, stating the EC should be a reliable public institution but instead seems 'rotten'. Using his last 100 baht, he bought fermented fish from the market to make his protest, initially wanting to throw it inside the office but restraining himself to avoid dirtying the staff. When asked about vote recounting, Thewa said transparency is key, criticizing the inconsistent election results. He also called for EC Secretary Sawang Boonmee's resignation, declaring the organization unreliable. After his protest, police officers took him to Thung Song Song Horn police station. This wasn't Thewa's first such protest; he had previously thrown fermented fish at the EC on July 20, 2023.
