Taiwan Congratulates Thailand on Successful General Election
On February 9th, Taiwan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs congratulated Thailand on its successful general election held on February 8th, which involved electing 500 parliamentary representatives. The Bhumjaithai Party, led by Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, secured the most seats and is expected to form a coalition government with other political parties. Lin Jialong, Taiwan's Foreign Minister, expressed sincere congratulations and directed the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Thailand to send congratulatory messages to the Thai government and newly elected parliament members. The ministry emphasized that Taiwan and Thailand are important partners with long-standing close relationships in various domains including economics, trade, investment, tourism, culture, and education. Under Taiwan's New Southbound Policy, bilateral cooperation has expanded continuously, with increased people-to-people exchanges resulting in concrete collaboration. Taiwan stated it would build upon existing cooperation foundations, working with the new Thai government and parliament to promote peace, stability, and prosperity in the region.
