Election Commission Tightens Controls in Final Campaign Stretch, Deploys Police and Volunteers Nationwide
The Election Commission (EC) is implementing strict controls in the final campaign stretch before the elections, coordinating with national police to set up checkpoints across the country. Deputy Secretary-General Pol. Lt. Col. Chanin Noi Lek reported that they have removed two additional candidates from the constituency election lists, bringing the total to 20 disqualified candidates. The EC has established mobile investigation teams working with police to track potential election law violations, focusing on vote-buying and illegal campaign activities. They have already uncovered significant evidence in Chiang Rai, where over 100 vote-buying lists and 60,000 baht in cash were seized, and in Surat Thani, where election voter lists suggesting vote-buying were discovered. Mobile investigation teams are actively monitoring suspicious activities in multiple provinces including Sakon Nakhon and Nakhon Si Thammarat. The EC has deployed over 10 investigative units to support comprehensive monitoring during the final campaign period, expecting to uncover additional violations.
