Ministry Official Orders Urgent Investigation into Forest Industry Organization's Land Sale in Bang Na
On February 10th, Dr. Raweewan Phurides, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, called an emergency meeting of the Forest Industry Organization (FIO) after discovering suspicious circumstances in the bankruptcy of Thai Plywood Company, in which FIO is the primary shareholder. The company has tax debts of approximately 1.166 billion baht, but initial investigations revealed the company's assets exceed its liabilities. The meeting resolved to investigate why the company was forced into bankruptcy on December 18, 2561, and to examine the potential market value of seven land plots in Bang Na, which could be worth over 10 billion baht. Key actions include requesting a comprehensive asset evaluation, negotiating debt settlement, and potentially referring the case to the National Anti-Corruption Commission.
