Election Commission Clarifies Ballot Box Movement in Chonburi District 3, Raising Suspicions
On February 10, 2024, a controversy erupted when Wirote Lakkanaadisorn, deputy leader of the People's Party, posted on Facebook about a ballot box being moved suspiciously. The box was reportedly located on Mittrasamphan Road near a warehouse in Ang Sila, Chonburi. Chawal Ploymueangdee, a parliamentary candidate for Chonburi District 3, livestreamed allegations that the Election Commission was arbitrarily moving the ballot box, initially claiming it would go to the Chonburi Election Commission office but then driving past it. The Chonburi Election Commission initially stated that moving ballots at night was not illegal, but local residents questioned the security of the warehouse. The location lacked proper safety standards, had no front door security cameras, and was not clearly marked as a ballot storage site.
