Colombian Gunman Arrested for Killing Iraqi Man in Phuket
Police raided a hotel and arrested a Colombian gunman who shot and killed a 24-year-old Iraqi man in Patong, suspecting he received orders to carry out the assassination in Thailand. The incident occurred in the evening of February 7th near Siri Raj Road in Patong, Kathu District, Phuket. During the raid, police seized a motorcycle, two firearms, and the suspect's clothing. At 3:00 AM on February 8th, a joint police team from multiple units successfully captured the Colombian suspect, who was wanted on an arrest warrant from Phuket Provincial Court. The suspect was hiding in a hotel in Mai Khao Sub-district, Thalang District. Preliminary investigations suggest the shooting was a targeted killing, with the motive still under investigation. The suspect has been charged with premeditated murder, illegal weapons possession, and firearms violations.
