Witness Alleges Election Vote-Buying, Threatened to Recant Testimony
On February 13, Nikorn Glamtong, a local administrative organization (TAO) candidate from Uttaradit province, accompanied by a witness named 'Mr. A', reported to police investigators about witness intimidation related to vote-buying in the local election. Nikorn revealed that on January 23, he submitted evidence of election law violations to the Election Commission. Subsequently, two witnesses reported being threatened to stop testifying and change their statements. On January 30, Mr. A was approached at his home by men who forced him into a pickup truck and taken to a village leader's house, where over 10 people were waiting. They threatened him to cease being a witness, with threats of legal prosecution and imprisonment, causing him to feel unsafe.
