PM Awaits Election Commission Certification Before Forming New Government, Orders Foreign and Defense Ministries to Study MOU44 Cancellation
On February 10, 2024, at Government House, Anutin Charnvirakul, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, spoke at the Cabinet meeting and congratulated all ministers who gained public trust in the election, both district and party-list systems. The PM noted that while unofficial results are known, the Election Commission is still in its legal certification process. As the leader of Bhumjai Thai Party, which has been entrusted to lead government formation, Anutin stated they will wait for official election result certification before starting the new government formation process, ensuring compliance with law and public intent. He emphasized that the current Cabinet must continue performing duties fully until the new Cabinet takes office. Anutin assigned Minister Bradorn Prisananantakul to urgently track and proceed with suspended people's assistance budgets and projects to comprehensively alleviate public hardship. Additionally, he instructed the Foreign and Defense Ministries to study ways to cancel MOU44, prioritizing national interests.
