Yala Prepares Helicopters to Collect Ballot Boxes from High Mountainous Areas in Two Districts
Piyawut Khiaokhum, the Yala Election Commission Director, disclosed preparations for transporting ballot boxes after vote counting for the parliamentary election and referendum. In Yala's remote, mountainous areas, security agency helicopters will be used to transport election ballot boxes and equipment to district offices in two districts. The first area in Mu 8 Ban Mueang Labu, Pata Subdistrict, Yaha District, will use a helicopter from the Internal Security Operations Command Region 4 Forward Unit to transfer ballot boxes to Yaha District Office. In Thato District, three polling stations including Ban Santi 2 and Ban Chulaphorn 9 will also use police helicopters to transport election materials. The Election Commission is concerned about staff safety and ensuring a complete election process. Currently, no violent incidents have been reported, and citizen participation appears high, with over 50% voter turnout against an 80% target.
