Confident Anutin Will Form Government in 1 Month, Boost Economy in Q3 for at Least 2 Years
Thanawat Ponvichai, rector of Thai Chamber of Commerce University and advisor to the Economic and Business Forecasting Center, expressed confidence that Anutin Charnvirakul, Prime Minister and Interior Minister, will be able to form a new government within one month. As the leader of a stable party capable of forming coalition partnerships, Anutin is expected to prepare the budget by June-May and enable spending in the third quarter, helping Thailand's economy begin to recover.
Multiple positive factors are expected to impact the Thai economic system, including the continuation of the 'Half-Half Plus' phase 2 policy, accelerated investment promotion through BOI, and increased foreign interest in investing in Thailand, particularly in data center industries, as Thailand is considered a safe zone for trade wars.
Regarding election vote counting protests, Thanawat believes these will not affect government stability or formation confidence, noting that a caretaker government remains in place and protests are a normal part of the democratic process.
'It's clear that the Thai economic atmosphere is positive after the election,' Thanawat noted, pointing to rising stock markets and a stronger baht, reflecting business sector confidence that the new government will be stable and able to function effectively for at least two years.
