AirAsia X Sets Sights on Bahrain as Aviation Strategic Hub Outside Asia

AirAsia X has expanded its medium-haul network outside the Asian region, positioning Bahrain as a strategic aviation hub to strengthen connections between Asia, the Middle East, Europe, and Australia. Following a Letter of Intent signed on November 3rd with Capital A Berhad and Bahrain's Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications, the airline aims to develop Bahrain as its Middle Eastern aviation center. Bo Lingkam, AirAsia X Group CEO, emphasized that this move reflects the airline's commitment to creating a global long-distance network with strategic hubs beyond Southeast Asia. Bahrain's advantageous location and aviation readiness will be crucial in promoting cross-regional travel, trade, and tourism. Tony Fernandes, Capital A CEO and AirAsia X advisor, described this as a significant step in the airline's new growth phase, enabling more efficient connections between Asia, the Middle East, and Europe. The collaboration also supports the broader aviation ecosystem, including opportunities for cargo services and aircraft maintenance.
