On February 6, 2024, police officials led by Maj. Gen. Phattanasak Buppha Suwan ordered the arrest of Ms. Sunee (last name withheld), 33, who was wanted by the Si Sa Ket Provincial Court for fraud and allowing her electronic bank accounts to be used for technological crimes. The arrest took place near a residence in Thep Raj Subdistrict, Ban Pho District, Chachoengsao Province. The victim was a 69-year-old retired teacher who was tricked by scammers claiming state official status and involvement in human trafficking investigations. The scammers used fear tactics to convince the victim to transfer over 300,000 baht multiple times. Ms. Sunee claimed she had previously installed an illegal loan app and uploaded personal documents, which were subsequently used by criminals as a 'dummy account'. Investigations revealed her accounts were used in multiple cases causing over 2 million baht in damages, and she had three additional outstanding arrest warrants. The suspect denied all allegations and was handed over to local authorities for legal processing.
