On February 4, 2024, high-ranking police officers Krittaphol Yeesakorn and Phongdech Khamjaisoo received a report from Police Colonel Niwat Thassanakasem about seizing 8 million methamphetamine pills abandoned near Tai Yai Subdistrict in Den Chai District, Phrae Province. Initially, officers were notified about a drug transportation vehicle, but the target vehicle was not found. Around 7:30 AM, villagers reported finding suspicious fertilizer sacks by the roadside. Police discovered 6 sacks of drugs at the first location. Shortly after, another report came in about suspicious items near a water reservoir, where they found 20 more drug-filled sacks, bringing the total seized drugs to approximately 8 million pills. In a separate incident, another police team spotted a vehicle with registration ขท 8921 from Chiang Rai. The driver noticed police and quickly abandoned the vehicle, leaving behind 6 black bags containing approximately 1.5 million methamphetamine pills.
