Leicester City has been penalized by the English Football League (EFL) with a 6-point deduction, effective immediately, for financial rule violations. The punishment stems from the club being charged with breaching profit and sustainability rules (PSR) from the 2021-22 to 2023-24 seasons, spanning three seasons. Additionally, the club was cited for lack of cooperation during the investigation and failure to submit financial details on time. As a result of this penalty, Leicester, which originally had 38 points and was in 17th place, has been reduced to 32 points and dropped to 32nd place, now barely staying above the relegation zone solely due to goal difference. In a statement, Leicester expressed disappointment with the committee's decision and mentioned they are thoroughly reviewing the details and considering their next steps. Leicester is currently facing extremely challenging times, as they are currently without a full-time head coach, with Andy King serving as caretaker, and have not won a league match in four consecutive games.
